What is a POS system?
A POS (point of sale) system is the software and hardware you use at the counter to bill customers, take payments, print receipts and update your stock automatically. A good POS also shows you daily sales, best-selling items and profit — so you can run your shop or restaurant from one screen.

Which type of POS is right for you?
Many businesses choose a hybrid: billing keeps working offline and syncs to the cloud when the internet is back.
| Cloud POS | Desktop / offline POS | |
|---|---|---|
| Works without internet | Limited — needs a connection for most features | Yes — runs on the counter computer |
| See sales from your phone | Yes, from anywhere | Only if we add sync |
| Multiple branches | Easy — all branches in one place | Harder — needs syncing |
| Data backup | Automatic online backup | Needs local or scheduled backup |
| Best for | Chains, owners who travel, growing shops | Single shops with weak internet |

POS questions, answered
Quick answers before you get in touch.
What is a POS system?
A POS (point of sale) system is the software and hardware you use at the counter to bill customers, take payments, print receipts and update stock automatically. It also gives you reports on sales and profit.
How much does a POS system cost in Pakistan?
It depends on your business — the number of items, branches, users and features such as FBR integration or a kitchen screen. BrightExa Tech gives a free quote with a fixed price before any work starts, so you know the full cost upfront.
Can my POS connect to FBR?
FBR's POS integration links your POS to FBR's digital invoicing so each sale is reported and the receipt carries an FBR invoice number and QR code. Tell us if your business needs it and we will include it in your quote. Check the latest FBR notifications for whether your business must integrate.
Do you build POS systems for Saudi Arabia and the UAE?
Yes. We work online with businesses in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. We plan invoices around local rules such as ZATCA e-invoicing in Saudi Arabia and 5% VAT in the UAE, and support Arabic and English.
Will the POS work without internet?
It can. A desktop or hybrid POS keeps billing when the internet goes down and syncs sales when it comes back. A cloud-only POS needs a connection for most features.
What hardware do I need?
Usually a computer, tablet or touchscreen terminal, a receipt printer, a barcode scanner and a cash drawer. Restaurants may add a kitchen printer or screen. We can work with hardware you already have.
How long does it take to get a POS system?
A first version is typically ready in a few weeks, depending on features. We agree the timeline in writing before we start.
Can you add my existing products and stock?
Yes. Send us your product list in Excel or another format and we import items, prices and opening stock before you go live.
